Thanks to YouTube, ordinary people like you and me have become known for their fitness videos. Yet there’s a lot of garbage content out there. We listed six YouTube coaches you can rely on.

SEAN NALEWANYJ

Coach Sean Nalewanyj runs one of the best fitness YouTube channels out there. His advices are clear, honest, evidence-based and devoid of BS. Subscribe to his channel and you will learn lots about natural bodybuilding.

Nalewanyj provides you with clear explanations about just about all aspects of bodybuilding. He bases this on the one hand on science, on the other hand on his extensive practical experience as a bodybuilder and coach. In short, a channel that we heartily recommend to anyone who wants to achieve their dream physique in a responsible way. And who has no time for BS.

Nalwanyj doesn’t shy away from criticizing other YouTube coaches either, though only with good arguments.

MARIO TOMIC

Ten years ago, Mario Tomic was still a nerdy software developer who preferred to spend day and night behind a screen. It wasn’t until his late twenties that he first touched a dumbbell. And that would completely change his life: by working on his body, he also worked on his self-confidence. He got rid of his gaming addiction, became more social and became happier.

Today, Tomic leads a fitness coaching company aimed at entrepreneurs and professionals who want to go through life fit and tight despite a full agenda. Tomic is also successfully active on social media, especially on YouTube, where he runs a channel with more than 150,000 subscribers.

As an intelligent coach, free from nonsense and yelling, Tomic tries to help you get a better body. With now several hundred educational videos that mainly highlight the aspect of fat loss, of course especially in relation to natural bodybuilding.

BEN CARPENTER

Many so-called YouTube coaches mainly tell their audience what their audience wants to hear: quick fixes for muscle growth. Ben Carpenter does not participate in that; he mainly tells you what you need to hear. That means honest, evidence-based information about muscle growth and fat loss, where he sweeps the floor with a lot of myths and nonsense. The Brit also pays a lot of attention to mindset. All this interspersed with a healthy dose of humor.

Carpenter reaches most of his followers via Instagram (167k followers), but is no less active on YouTube for that; he posts a new video almost every week.

LAYNE NORTON

Layne Norton is an American bodybuilding coach. In addition, he has an impressive track record as a professional powerlifter and natural bodybuilder. And as a PhD in Nutritional Sciences, he delivered a series of scientific publications.

In short, a YouTube host with knowledge, competition experience, coaching experience and life experience. Notron makes educational videos about training and nutrition, especially based on natural bodybuilding. No lengthy ‘vlogs’ with matters that are irrelevant, but compact talk in which he tackles pressing issues with logic and rationality.

Notron bases this on the one hand on scientific literature, on the other hand on his rich experience as a coach and bodybuilder.

Notron is also not afraid to make short work of YouTubers and other ‘influencers’ who do proclaim BS. Especially in the What The Fitness section (the original name of the section was not tolerated by YouTube) he gives these types of people quite a bit. In often unmistakable terms.

MIKE ISRAETEL

Mike Israetel is a Doctor of Sports Physiology and a celebrated speaker, author and coach. In his native Russia, he was a successful competitive powerlifter and bodybuilder. On YouTube you can regularly see this easy-talking heavyweight in, for example, the videos of OmarIsuf and Revive Stronger, for which he makes great Q&A podcasts.

Israetel also runs a company called Renaissance Periodization, for which he makes tons of interesting en educational video content, slightly focussed on the advanced (natural) bodybuilder. Learn from the master!

JEFF NIPPARD

Sure, Nippard is one of many self-proclaimed YouTube coaches. But it is one that boasts an academic background and a successful career in professional bodybuilding and powerlifting. In his home country of Canada he lifted several titles and records to his name.

Nippard is above all a master at unraveling and explaining scientific matter. See, for example, how he teaches you the basics of hypertrophy training in Fundamentals Series. Armed with whiteboard and markers, he provides insight into the scientific theory behind training intensity, volume, frequency and exercises. Most gym beginners ignore this kind of essential education and casually hop over to the barbell bench press.

Nippard started his YouTube channel five years ago and has since posted hundreds of videos on just about all aspects of bodybuilding, especially. In addition to Nippard’s smooth chat and didactic skills, his video editing skills certainly contribute to the success of his channel, which has more than 2,5 million subscribers.
